The best way to keep up to date with Fakenham Town Football Club

Six point Saturday but Groundsman steals the show

6 months ago By Edward Colman

Fakenham Town's first team and reserves were celebrating on Saturday, all before our groundsman went viral at Norwich City's clash with Chelsea.

“Kyle Plumb gives chase. Picture: Tony Miles”

The first team earned a crucial victory at Haverhill Rovers to boost their survival hopes.

Kyle Plumb opened the scoring for the Fakenham early on but the away side were pegged back when Haverhill equalised.

However, Plumb grabbed his second of the afternoon with a calm finish to take all three points and secure Andy Cunningham's first victory in the hot seat.

Craig Rutland's Fakenham Town Reserves side secured a 2-0 victory over Sprowston Athletic, thanks to a brace from Joseph Harrison.

The victory strengths the side's push for promotion to senior football, with the Reserves now second in the Division Two table, ten points behind first-placed Easton; but the Ghosts second string have two vital games in hand over the league leaders.

An excellent Saturday was capped in entertaining fashion on Saturday evening, when our groundsman had a polite exchange with Chelsea's Antonio Rüdiger.
