The last league game of what has been a (slightly) disappointing season, but what a way to end but with the visit of last Seasons Division 2 champions, Easton. To say we have struggled against them would be no exaggeration. Last season we managed a 1-1 draw at Clipbush Park but then lost the return by 3-0. This season we again had a 1-1 draw, this time at Easton, which really should have been a better result ie a win but for some 'dubious' decisions by the referee (the one and only time he has reffed us this season), the least of which reduced us to 10 men and cost the players £100 in disciplinary fines. The Reserves will finish in 10th or 11th place with Easton currently some 13 points and 3 places above us, and they still have 3 games to play after our fixture. I suspect that until last Saturday they still had faint hopes of promotion but a 4-1 home defeat to Yelverton has surely put paid to that. If they had won they would now be 5th with their outstanding games against East Harling, leaders Mundford and Bungay Town, with wins giving a chance to finish 3rd.
Anyway, we want to play the party poopers but, as with so many games this season, it will all depend upon what team we can actually field. From last saeasons settled side, we have lost Callum and Tuddy to the 1st Team, Joe Harrison and Jonny Lane with very long term injuries, Dan Payne, Dan Jarvis and Ian Bulley all missing for long periods so we haven't been able to field the same team for any more than a couple of matches in succession. 1st Team squad players made available haven't exactly been an unqualified success but at least we have been able to blood a number of U18 players, the last match we played we fielded 6 in the squad and they all performed very well. Something to look forward to for next season. COYG
